Capt. Vinny Gartmayer has been smoking fish for 28 years. What started out
as a hobby, has turned into a thriving enterprise that is capturing the
taste buds of everyone who tries his products. Vinny purchased "Rier's
Smoked Salmon" in May, 2002 and renamed the company 'BOLD COAST
SMOKEHOUSE'. Adding his own special flair to Frank Rier's
traditional recipes, Vinny has added Smoked Salmon Kabobs & Gravlax to the
product list, creating two new delicacies to treat his customers pallets. |
Vinny's
slogan
is an acknowledgment of the downeast tradition for understating outstanding
quality. It is that dedication to quality that marks Bold Coast
as an emerging leader in the smoked salmon industry in this area.
Farm-raised for three years and then rushed fresh to Vinny's processing
shop, means that only the finest hot or cold smoked salmon comes out of
Vinny's smokers.
Situated where the first light of dawn breaks
in the United States, Bold Coast Smokehouse sets between Johnson's Bay &
Passamaquoddy Bay, on a narrow strip of land the locals call 'The
Beginning.' "From my window here in the shop I can see West Quoddy Head,
Campobello Island and Grand Manan Island" says Vinny. "West Quoddy is the
most eastern point in the US. Some jokingly call it the end of the earth - -
well if not the very end - - at least you can see the end from there".
